What Is The Right Diet?
Finding the right diet
First of all you need to work out what kind of menu plan a diet a centered around before you start, there is no need starting a diet that only allows you to eat celery if you don't like eating it, you will never stick to it. So here we will give you an overview of whats out there, to give you a place to start.
High protein diet
The high protein diet is based around cutting out foods with a high carbohydrate level, things like pasta, rice, processed grains (eg: white bread) and potatoes. This may sound like a rather harsh diet and in a way it is fairly strict but it can lead to a very quick weight loss, the theory is that excess carbs are stored by the body as fat. When you reduce the intake of carbs and use up the stores in the body, your body begins to look elsewhere for sources of fuel for energy and it finds stored fat. The process of burning this stored fat for energy begins and weight loss can be achieved quickly. A lot of company's sell drink powders to make shakes centered around this diet and most are derived from soy products, while some do taste fairly ordinary there are some that taste very nice. When the shakes are used in conjunction with their low carb eating plan and a good exercise regime, results can be seen very quickly without feeling hungry all the time. The downside with this diet is that it lacks some vitamins and minerals needed by the body and it can be low in fibre as well, but this can be countered with a daily multivitamin tablet and a fiber substitute (there are drinks and tablet form available from your supermarket) to keep up your energy levels and also keep you regular. This diet is not recommended for longer than a year, when you achieve your desired weight reintroduce these carb sources in moderate levels and keep up your exercise to maintain you weight.
